German premiere of "Breaking the Waves"

Missy Mazzoli is one of the most distinguished US composers. Her opera "Breaking the Waves" received the Music Critics Association of North America Award for "best new opera" after its premiere in Philadelphia in 2016. The work, which is a musical-theatrical adaptation of the opening film of the same name for Lars von Trier's "Golden Heart Trilogy", paints a moral portrait of a strictly religious community in Scotland in the 1970s. Under the musical direction of Marc Niemann, the opera will receive its German premiere on 6 May 2023.
